A new rainwater harvesting system at County Hospital has been installed to cut water use and support the Trust’s journey to net zero by 2040, thanks to UHNM Charity funding.
Three tanks will collect and store rainwater from the roof in three locations around the site for non-drinkable uses like toilet flushing, cleaning, and saving water. The system will help reduce the hospitals’ reliance on mains water, lower costs, and showcase a sustainable water management approach.
Lisa Stokes, UHNM Transformation Manager, said: “This rainwater harvesting scheme is fantastic for the Trust. We’re making a positive impact on the environment while reducing water consumption and costs.
“The estates and transformation team at County Hospital are so grateful to UHNM Charity for supporting this project.”
Lisa Thomson, UHNM Charity Director, said: “It’s so great to hear the positive impact the rainwater harvesting system will have and we are so proud to support a project that benefits our hospitals and the environment.
“UHNM Charity is pleased to be able to support many of the Trust’s sustainability projects, and we look forward to continuing to help in any way we can in the future.”
