UHNM Charity recently celebrated South Asian Heritage Month, in collaboration with University of Staffordshire, Staffordshire Fire Service, and Staffordshire Police.
The vibrant initiative aims to recognise and honour the rich cultural contributions, history, and diversity of the South Asian community across Staffordshire.
UHNM Charity celebrated at County Hospital Stafford, and Royal Stoke, with Poet Navkiran Kaur Mann visiting, as well as a South Asian dance company as part of the regular dialysis arts programme, reaching over 200 people.
Sadaf Butt, UHNM Organisational Development Consultant, said: “We hosted a fantastic event here at UHNM. We welcomed dance performances, the Hari Rama Temple, and worked collaboratively with Staffordshire Police, Fire and University of Staffordshire to increase the knowledge of South Asian Heritage.
“For me, it is really important that we bring the culture and richness of our culture to the patients and our staff. That is what it is all about.”
A highlight of the celebration month was a special event attended by UHNM, hosted at the University of Staffordshire, which celebrated the achievements, collaboration, and partnerships of the South Asian Heritage community across the public sector. The day featured inspiring talks, presentations, cultural performances, and critical partnership-building activities.
Gemma Thomas, Project Manager – Arts for UHNM Charity, said: “We are delighted to celebrate South Asian Heritage Month alongside our respected partners. Our events were a powerful reminder of the strength found in collaboration and the incredible impact of the South Asian community across the public sector.
“Together, we are building a more inclusive and connected Staffordshire which adds value to communities in the area.”
