Tiny hearts, big mission - helping make a difference for Children’s Oncology

Kids Planet Nursery, Hixon, Stafford held a summer fayre in July in support of the Children’s Oncology ward at Staffordshire Children’s Hospital at Royal Stoke. The area was chosen as a former child who attended the nursery had been treated previously by the oncology team. Two members of the nursery team came to visit the unit and present a cheque to the staff.

Kirsty Grigg-Spencer, Nursery Manager said “It was great to be able to come onto to the unit, we got to see first-hand the amazing things that the staff did to support the children in their care and the families too! It is lovely to be able to support such a worthy cause and to enable them to continue making such a difference to all the families going through a tough time.”

Julie Eaton, Clinical Nurse Specialist on Children’s Oncology said “Thank you to the dedicated staff, parents, and children at Kids Planet Hixon Nursery for raising a wonderful amount of money to support the children undergoing treatment in the Children’s Oncology unit. These young patients spend long hours on the department, and such generous donations can make a significant difference in improving their comfort and overall experience, during what is often a challenging and stressful time. Contributions like this help provide additional resources, activities, and support services that can brighten their days and offer much-needed moments of joy and distraction.”
