Students hit the heights with fundraising abseil

A group of eight nursing students from Keele University have hit the heights for UHNM Charity by abseiling from Millers Dale Viaduct in the Peak District.

The students challenged themselves as part of a team building exercise and raised almost £600 for the Forget-Me-Not Suite at Royal Stoke.

Student Rachel Rimmington (centre) said: “This is a cause really close to my heart as my little boy Albie was born in the Suite in February last year before passing away just 63 minutes later. The staff were just unbelievably amazing and we couldn’t think of a more worthy way to celebrate his second birthday.”

“The abseiling was scary and super exciting all at all at the same time. We had been practicing mindfulness and mediation to prepare ourselves, but we nailed it and are thrilled we hit our £500 target.”

Rachel and the rest of our abseilers visited the Royal Stoke this week present their cheque to our midwifery team.
