Runner Tom gets help from daughter Amber

Meet Amber! She’s been helping her daddy Tom Clowes get ready for the Chester marathon on Sunday 3 October.

Tom, who works in Finance Strategy at UHNM is taking on the 26.2-mile course to raise funds for stroke patients at Royal Stoke.

He said: “I work in a corporate team which supports the business side of a number of specialities, one of them being stroke services who I have a soft spot for. I’ve seen the service grow and develop over the 5 years I’ve worked at UHNM for and they provide an amazing service. I’m running to highlight the work that they do and raise funds to help improve patient experience.”

Tom’s been running for seven months and has been getting some help along the way.

“I recently bought a running pram to give my wife a break, stretch my legs and keep Amber happy and entertained. I go out five or six times a week running about 50 miles a week on average. Amber comes along for the ride for a bit of it before I drop her off at home and carry on.”

“I’ve also been training once a week after work with Dr Indira Natarajan, Clinical Lead for Stoke, who is also an accomplished long-distanced runner. We enjoy talking a mixture of hospital business and our common interest of running.”
