Ride-on Teslas bring excitement to Children's Hospital

Patients at Staffordshire Children’s Hospital at Royal Stoke can travel between appointments and to surgery in style thanks to the efforts of a kind-hearted father.

Ben Brampton arranged for the donation of a mini Tesla car through his membership of the Tesla Owners Club UK.

The Tesla joins a fleet of mini cars that help to distract children from the daunting clinical setting of a hospital.

Ben said: “I have 11-year-old twins who in their early years spent several weeks at Staffordshire Children’s Hospital at Royal Stoke. They received excellent care after being born very early at 25 weeks with chronic lung disease. For the   first few years of their life they suffered from seasonal Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)and every time we brought them to Royal Stoke they were looked after extremely well.”

“The Tesla Owners Club run a charitable initiative were funds raised are used to purchase these mini ride-in Teslas which are then donated to hospitals and similar settings across the UK. It’s the small things that make a big difference, and if a little boy or girl is stressed about going for a procedure and riding in the Tesla can change all that, it’s quite a powerful little image that I have.”

Sarah Lomas Children’s Daycase Surgical Lead said: “A massive thank you from Staffordshire Children’s Hospital at Royal Stoke to Ben and everybody at the Tesla Owner’s Club. When we use these cars the children are a lot more relaxed and less anxious. It turns into a fun experience for them because everybody smiles and says hello to them along the way and the kids love it.”
