New nebulisers improve experience of Cystic Fibrosis patients

The care and experience of Cystic Fibrosis patients at UHNM has been improved thanks to charity funding.

The North West Midlands Cystic Fibrosis Centre based at Royal Stoke has been able to purchase five eFlow rapid nebulisers with a grant from UHNM Charity.

The new nebulisers reduce treatment time to a couple of minutes compared to half an hour with previous devices.

Nebulisers will be given to patients who need to have nebulised antibiotics nthroughout the day.

Wendy Dale, Advanced Physiotherapist in Cystic Fibrosis said: “We at the North West Midlands Cystic Fibrosis Centre at UHNM are extremely grateful to UHNM Charity for the kind donation of the eFlow Rapid Nebulisers which will have a huge impact on reducing the treatment burden of our patients with Cystic Fibrosis. The eFlow nebulisers ensure that treatment times are shorter compared to conventional nebulisers that we also use at UHNM. They are also quieter, more portable and easier to clean which will improve our patients adherence to nebulised treatments.”

The nebulisers will used by patients in both the local area and wider across the Cystic Fibrosis network in Shropshire.
