Kim and Liam raise £2,500 for NICU in memory of baby Lewis

Kim and Liam Conway have donated £2,500 to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Royal Stoke University Hospital in memory of their baby son, Lewis. Their donation will support the unit and help families who face similar situations.

Lewis was born on 13 September 2025 and spent 17 days on NICU. He struggled with his lungs. Kim and Liam said the nurses gave constant care and the consultants explained every plan. They said the team was exceptional.

Lewis took a serious dip on day four. Scans and X rays showed that his lungs were the issue. The team tried every option. Kim and Liam were told that options were running out and that they should prepare for the worst. They arranged a blessing on 27 September.

The next morning he started to improve. He got air into both lungs. Doctors told Kim and Liam that Lewis was a fighter who responded in his own way.

Lewis kept fighting until day 17. He died on 30 September in his parents’ arms.

Kim and Liam raised this money to support the doctors, nurses and the families who face similar days on NICU.

Julia Wilkinson, Ward Manager on NICU, said, “Thank you so much to Kim and Liam for their kindness and generosity in supporting our Neonatal Unit in memory of baby Lewis. Thank you for supporting us to help other families in their most fragile moments, we are so grateful.”
