Fundraiser Luke takes on bungee jump in memory of baby son

A fundraiser is preparing to take on a bungee jump to support bereavement care at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM).

Luke, alongside his friend Dan, is raising money for the Forget Me Not Suites after experiencing the loss of his baby boy on 9 November 2023.

The Forget Me Not Suites provide a private, calm space away from the main maternity wards, supporting families during the most difficult moments.

Luke said:
“The Forget Me Not Suites at the hospital are a safe space away from the main maternity ward. They provide amazing care and comfort when needed the most.”

Funds raised from the challenge will go towards items that support families spending precious time with their babies. This includes cold cots, which allow parents more time to say goodbye, and memory boxes containing keepsakes such as hand and footprints, teddy bears and hospital tags.

Luke added:
“Without the help and support of the midwives at UHNM and the bereavement midwives, we don’t think we’d have gotten through the worst time of our lives.”

The fundraiser aims to give back to the teams who supported Luke and his family, while helping other parents facing similar loss.
