Charity-funded therapy chairs improve patient experience for children and young people

Children and young people at University Hospitals of North Midlands are now benefiting from new specialist therapy chairs thanks to funding from UHNM Charity.

Two Little Lento Tilt in Space Care Chairs are now being used on wards at Staffordshire Children’s Hospital and are designed to provide greater comfort and support for patients during treatment and recovery.

The chairs allow patients to sit safely out of bed, allowing them to access toys and other rehabilitation tools to support their recovery.

Senior Physiotherapist Danielle Smith said: “It is so exciting to have these new chairs across Child Health. Previously, we had nothing suitable to sit children into, and now we're seeing the benefits first-hand.

“Children are more comfortable, more engaged, and feedback from both patients and parents has been overwhelmingly positive.

“I would like to say a big thank you UHNM Charity for supporting us.”

Steve Rushton Head of UHNM Charity, said: “I am delighted that UHNM Charity has been able to fund the therapy chairs for our amazing young patients at UHNM. We know that they will make a difference to their recovery, and we will continue to help in any way we can to improve patient experience.”
