UHNM Charity are in safe hands thanks to the support of the Royal Stoke University Hospital’s Security Team.

The members of the security staff, which is ran by Sodexo, raised almost £1,200 by completing a 30-mile sponsored walk from Alderly Edge to the hospital in aid of Children’s Services.

George Beardmore from the security team said: “We’ve supported the Children’s Department at UHNM for a number of years now, they do amazing work which benefits so many patients and families across our local area. As we’ve recently had new members in the team, we wanted to do something that we could all get involved in and also use as a team bonding exercise. We all had a fantastic day, and despite some sore feet, everyone completed the walk in 10 hours.”

The team are made up of a mixture of officers, supervisors and managers and take care of a range of on-site issues ranging from public disorder to missing children.

They presented their cheque to Janet Hagan, Senior Matron for Child Health.
