Liam helps fellow child patients

Our patients and their families are the real winners after a young UHNM Charity supporter donated his competition prize to UHNM’s Children’s Department.

Kind-hearted Liam Harrison from Wolstanton donated two Playmobil statues to our Children’s Play Room after winning them in a competition at his local ODEON cinema.

The ten-year-old said: “Everybody was asking the cinema what they were going to do with the statues after they’d stop showing the film, so they started a competition asking people why they should win them. I wrote in saying I wanted them for the hospital so other children can enjoy them, and I won. We kept them in my grandparent’s porch, and I think they were glad when they left because they kept thinking they were real people!”

This isn’t the first time Liam has supported the hospital and our charity, he’s previously taken part in a sponsored swim to raise funds for new toys for the Children’s Department at the Royal Stoke.

Emma Biddulph, Children’s Play Specialist Co-ordinator added, “The statues now stand in pride of place at the entrance to our Play Room following Liam’s fantastic act of kindness. We’d like to once again say thank you to him and his family for thinking of us and dropping them off.”
