CICU Bedding Appeal

The Children's Intensive Care Unit (CICU) are appealing for donations of new and unused bedding to improve the ward environment and experience for both patients and their families.

Sister Kate Foden said: "We're seeking donations to help further improve the ward environment and reduce the clinical feel of the cots and beds as much as possible. Something as simple as replacing the standard white and green sheets which we already have with something more infant and child-friendly makes such a difference to both patient and family."

"In addition to patient bedding, we're also appealing for items for our seven parent's rooms, to make their stay with us as comfortable as possible."

The Unit are appealing for:

For infants:

- Flannelette sheets

For babies:

-Cot sheets
-Single Duvet cover sets
-Pillow cases

For children:

-Fitted single bed sheets
-Single Duvet sets
-Pillow cases

Items for parents rooms:

- Double Duvet sets
- Double Bed sheets
- Single Duvet sets
- Single Duvet sets
- Pillow Cases

Six consultants and 53 highly-skilled nurses staff the modern, spacious eight-bed ward which has the latest state-of-the-art medical technology. The facilities also contain seven bedrooms of various sizes to accommodate the patients' families in a child and family-friendly department. In addition to standard intensive care procedures, the unit is a nationally-acclaimed, specialist centre for non-invasive respiratory intensive care and also has specialist support services for patients who have had spinal surgery.
