Glenys and friends on target again for UHNM Charity

A longstanding supporter celebrated 24 years fundraising for UHNM Charity by holding a darts marathon in her local pub

Glenys Beard raised £1,610 for the Critical Care Unit at the Royal Stoke University Hospital by holding a 12-hour match with family and friends at The Star at Cotton near Oakamoor earlier this month.

Glenys, who’s been playing darts locally for 50 years said, “Two teams of four players took turns playing against each other between 10am and 10pm. We had plenty of Chorley cake to keep us going, and kept scores on a laptop to find an overall winner.”

With the help of family and friends, Glenys has previously raised funds for the Children’s and Cancer Departments at UHNM.

James Wood from UHNM Charity, who presented the group with their cheque at The Star said, “We can’t thank Glenys enough for her remarkable contribution to the UHNM Charity over the past almost quarter century. Her time and generosity have made a difference to so many patients and staff over the years.”

Glenys added, “We all had a great day, and I’m already looking forward to next year’s special anniversary event.”
