12-year-old revisits unit that cared for her

12-year-old Holly Easter has given the donations from her Grandfathers funeral to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Royal Stoke University Hospital. Holly, of Swadlincote in Derbyshire, was cared for on the old neonatal unit from three months when she was born at just 25 weeks. Dad David Easter said Granddad Roger Fredrick Norman would have approved of the £275 donations going to UHNM Charity to support the staff who had cared for his granddaughter in 2006.

UHNM Charity launches ‘BIG 7TEA’ to celebrate NHS turning 70

UHNM Charity is asking Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Stafford, Stone and all other area in Staffordshire to raise a cuppa and celebrate our wonderful health service. The NHS Big7Tea will be a chance for people up and down the country to come together and toast 70 years of the NHS on Thursday 5 July 2018. Host your own tea party and invite friends, family and colleagues along to mark the occasion and support the vital work of NHS charities. You might want to invite your friends to a street party, brew up for your family crack open the staff room tea bags or commandeer the local village hall.

Dad half way through 100,000m challenge for NICU

Tiny Oliver Charlie Perrins was born at just 29 weeks, weighing 2lb 13 ounces. After 81 days spent in the Neonatal Unit he finally went home. His dad Antony is now halfway through his 10x 10k race challenge. He is raising vital funds for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Royal Stoke University Hospital where Oliver was cared for.

£25k equipment to support Neonatal babies

A hundred of the most extremely premature and extremely low weight babies a year will now benefit from a new piece of Neonatal equipment. UHNM Charity has agreed to fund a £25,000 Video Laryngoscope, which is used to intubate babies being cared for on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). There were 92 babies in 2017 that needed to be intubated, where a tube is inserted, which can often be a difficult procedure on extremely premature and extremely low weight babies.
