UHNM Charity is asking Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Stafford, Stone and all other area in Staffordshire to raise a cuppa and celebrate our wonderful health service. The NHS Big7Tea will be a chance for people up and down the country to come together and toast 70 years of the NHS on Thursday 5 July 2018. Host your own tea party and invite friends, family and colleagues along to mark the occasion and support the vital work of NHS charities. You might want to invite your friends to a street party, brew up for your family crack open the staff room tea bags or commandeer the local village hall.

The humble cup of tea has a long and proud association with the NHS, especially in the Potteries. Originally served to patients in traditional fine cups with saucers and side spoon, tea was considered an important aspect of patient satisfaction and recovery. Tens of thousands of patients enjoy tea in NHS hospitals, clinics and GP surgeries every day. Tea brings us all together. It breaks down social boundaries, and like the NHS and NHS charities, is a symbol of comfort and community.

Paula Clark, UHNM Chief Executive, said: “Tea is synonymous with the NHS we couldn’t think of a better way to toast our wonderful health service and staff whilst raising funds for NHS charities. Whether it’s primary school, residential home, community group or business, we want everyone to raise a cuppa, dust off the old china, rally friends, family, work colleagues and come together to mark this special occasion – 70 deserves celebrating.”
